Hey,
Mum of 3, enthusiastic about all things sport, especially kids in sport and all the special moments between kids and the people who love them. I love capturing candid family moments and amazing action shots of kids doing what they love.
when i get a moment to stand still, i enjoy noticing the environment around me. The colour of the trees, the power of the wind, the magnitude of the night sky. below was photographed near maleny in qld while the kids were splashing in a creek. i noticed the varying depths of the trees, the different shades of green, and the changing lines and shapes of all the trees and vibes. stunning.
Always searching without luck
I've always enjoyed photography but like most people, I owned a camera and I just clicked the button. Then came mobile phones and I clicked the button. Then I had children and wanted better photos so I went back to a better camera but one that could fit in a nappy bag. Then I realised I never pulled the camera out and I went back to the mobile phone camera.
My mum passed away and I inherited her DSLR. She had always used the auto settings and I did the same however it largely wasn't used because mobile phones were getting so good!
In 2022 I started to become frustrated that I could no longer capture the photos I wanted on my phone. My kids were playing on bigger football fields and the zoom was not enough. When we attended an event and I saw professional photos were available I would madly search for photos of my children but was never in luck. I decided to learn more about photography and learn how to use my camera to its full potential. I wasn't going to sit and hope someone else would get a great photo of my kids.
By the end of the 2022 Aussie Rules season I had learnt so much and shared many photos with friends and families on our team. I continued as we moved into our summer sports, taking photos and sharing them around. After one athletics carnival someone from another club saw my photos on our clubs social media and asked to purchase a photo. I was blown away! Maybe I am OK at this!?
I sat on the idea for a few weeks over Dec. I had my camera with me while we holidayed and visited family in Qld and took the opportunity to keep taking photos whenever I could. Faced with a long drive home from Old I sat in the car and created a logo and used some recent photos from our trip to start an instagram page. My entrepreneurial husband caught wind of what I was thinking and before I knew it he had researched everything! Of course I had my own ideas but as much as it's hard to admit, his ideas and research was sound. The website you're reading this on was set-up for me and handed over like a gift for me to start building and sharing.
So, here we are! January 2023 and I have a website to show the world how much I love this hobby.
MY 'WHY' IS WANTING FAMILIES TO HAVE THE KINDS OF PHOTOS YOU USUALLY ONLY GET DURING PROFESSIONAL SPORTS MEETS. NOT JUST THE POSED PORTRAITS OR THE CLOSE UPS YOU CAN GET ON A MOBILE PHONE. I'M TALKING KIDS IN THE WILD, ON THE FIELD, IN THE POOL, ON THE COURT. KIDS DOING THEIR THING, WITH THEIR PEOPLE.
IN BETWEEN ALL THE KIDS ACTION, I AM SEARCHING FOR THE PARENTS, FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES. IM SEARCHING FOR THE CUDDLE OR HIGH FIVE. THE CHEERS, THE PATS AND THE CELEBRATIONS.
